Elbert County Fire Department Recognized for Heroic Actions

PRESS RELEASE-

Elbert County Emergency Services would like to recognize members of Elbert County Fire Department for their heroic actions during a structure fire on Ruckersville Road on the evening of August 11, 2025.

At approximately 7:20 p.m., Elbert E-911 received a call reporting a house fire with someone trapped inside. Dispatchers immediately notified all responding agencies and remained on the phone with the entrapped victim, providing reassurance until help arrived.

Upon arrival, Brad Alexander, Chris Alexander, and Ira Smith quickly located the victim on the second floor above a basement. Working with urgency and precision, they rescued her through a window, assisting her safely down a ladder to the ground.
