ELBERT COUNTY, Ga. – The GBI has arrested and charged Edar Carreon, age 30, of Elberton, GA, with one count of Rape and one count of Violation of Oath of Office.
Carreon, formerly an officer with the Elberton Police Department, is accused of raping a woman in Elberton, GA. The City of Elberton Police Department requested GBI assistance on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, after the victim filed a report with the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation shows that Carreon responded to the victim’s home on December 17, 2024, in reference to a report connected to the victim’s daughter. Carreon returned to the victim’s home later the same day, and that’s when the incident occurred. Carreon did not have a relationship with the victim.
Carreon was booked into the Elbert County Jail.
